Bird Diverters by Drone in South Wales

An interesting task for us recently, fitting bird diverters to overhead power lines in Carmarthenshire, South Wales, for a utilities supplier.

For this task, we used the DJI M600 for its heavy lift capability and versatility. This was coupled with the bird diverter tool which would run with 2 diverters at once supplied by Crocfast (Bird Diverters – CROCFAST® bird diverters | CROCFAST® bird diverters). For this task we worked in conjunction with Carbon 2050 Ltd.

The power line was isolated by the electricity company prior to work commencing, with the diverters then fitted at 5m intervals over the span. Completing the full work scope for our client within the timeframe and keeping the power outage as short as possible.
